Introduction of An Organizer

With the vision of organizing oppressed, underprivileged and dalit women of Lamjung district and raising awareness among them on their and their children’s health a non-governmental organization with the name of Ideal Women Skill Development Multipurpose Center (IWSDMC) was established in 2046 B.S. Empowering the women and developing their self esteem by enhancing their physical, psychological and mental abilities are the main focuses of the organization.

Introduction of the Protection Home
With the aim of meeting the challenges Ideal Women Skill Development Multipurpose Center (IWSDMC), a Besishahar, Lamjung based NGO has taken initiative to rehabilitate children under the age of five by establishing "Protection Home for Conflict Afflicted and Helpless Children." The Home provides shelter for the children who have lost either single or both parents, and have no means of earning livelihood. They are currently provided pre-primary education in nearby private school. Two full time lady employees provide daily care for the children. The plan is to provide these children up to SLC level education and/or skill training to help them stand on their own feet.
We have been providing partial financial support to 95 such conflict hit and helpless children for the purpose of books, school fees and school dress in the year 2005. There are more children in Lamjung who need such support. Because of our financial constraint, lack of sources and space at Home, the organization is unable to provide all of them the shelter they rightfully. Right now we are protecting 15 children in our custodial, in addition to 95 who are getting scholarship. To continue the support, we offer all national and international people and organization to help in this work. At the first effort, we brought 10 children under the age of five, who had lost either both or one parent in institution. Two more children joined the group immediately. Now we are protecting 15 children. Three volunteers including two women have been taking care of the children in managing the Home. A nearby private school has provided free pre-primary education to the children. The local hospital has provided free health service. The loss of the parents has been from either side, the State Security Force or the Maoists. The Home does not make any distinction between them and houses children of all backgrounds-gender, caste, ethnic, occupation or politics of their parents. Demands are coming to the home from all the parts of nation. The Home is now looking for support to extend the services to more children. The one year of experience indicates that the program, in the context of Nepal today, has been highly desirable, realistically achievable, sustainable and equitable. As the Home keeps the children of all backgrounds with homely environment, their living and growing together under careful and kind guidance, provides a way for reconciliation of the impact of the present political conflict

The major task which are operating now through the protection home.

We have divided 3 categories to identify and analysis the real conflict hit, disable, helpless and talent children through the help of Local Mothers groups of each community of their VDC , Village Development committee (VDC) and Local Administration and by which support would be more effective.
